There was a line up of events from noon till night. Really happening! Just look at the crowd below!
There were stage performances and many cosplays around. Took a few photos of them and here’s an obvious one – SAKAE SUSHI!

SHINE Youth Festival 2010:
Challenging Singapore Youth To Action
SHINE Youth Festival 2010 opens with 12 hours of non-stop entertainment, from 12noon to 12midnight
Singapore, 3 July 2010 – ENOUGH TALK JUST DO – with 12 hours of nonstop activities from 12noon to 12midnight, it’s time to stop talking and start getting into action at the SHINE Youth Festival in the heart of the youth precinct in Orchard. Organised by the National Youth Council and supported by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, the Festival has become an iconic youth event, as well as made many crucial firsts this
year.
For the first time since its inception, SHINE adopts a bold tagline, ENOUGH TALK JUST DO, challenging youth to indulge in their passion and show what they are about. ENOUGH TALK JUST DO governs the direction of SHINE
2010 and serves as a guide for events and activities of the Festival. In another first, SHINE 2010 is also proud to announce that it has received sponsorship deals of over S$260,000.
“I am really pleased to see the continued growth and increased relevance of SHINE Youth Festival to our youth,” said Mr Teo Ser Luck, Chairman for National Youth Council. “Each year, there are activities to encourage youths to showcase their passion, talents and skills. SHINE 2010 has taken that extra step closer towards our youth, to engage them in a language they can understand and to offer them a platform to develop their potential and connect with other like-minded youths. The tagline captures the spirit of our youth, and help them put into action their ideals for the betterment of our community.”
In a show of youth enthusiasm and energy, SHINE Youth Festival 2010 will launch with a 12hour celebration. An exciting stream of events will be staged in several locations in the youth precinct in Orchard. There will be mass dance, A Cappella performance, parade of cosplayers and a cosplay costume competition, hip hop and other forms of dances, cheerleading performance, national percussion competition and much more. The Youth Park will also be transformed into an urban beach where youth can play beach volleyball and Frisbee as well as participate in a Beach Pageant.
SHINE Youth Festival is made possible under the leadership of its Steering Committee and Youth Organising Committee as well as contributions from the Marquee partners and sponsors.
From 3 to 24 July, a myriad of activities organised by SHINE’s Marquee partners will be staged for our youth. “We are indeed fortunate to have many organisations in Singapore that enable youth to realise their passion and achieve their goals. Our Marquee partners are an integral part of SHINE, and with $1.07million committed to their programming for SHINE, we can look forward to even stronger ties with them in the coming years,” added Mr Teo. SHINE 2010’s Marquee partners are Mascot Parade, O School, Singapore Street Festival and the Singapore Management University.
SHINE Youth Festival runs from 3 to 24 July. Please refer to the Annexes for details and visit www.shine.nyc.sg for regular updates on SHINE Youth Festival.
